Senior Media Planner

Senior Media Planners at MPP develop, execute, and monitor media plans for advertising clients, keeping within budget while enabling clients to meet their advertising and marketing objectives. Spend your days analyzing audiences, programming environments/content, and the ratings of media outlets. Then put your expertise and the results of your analysis to work to create a winning media plan including outlet selection, audiences, scheduling, and geographic emphasis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Gather and champion the client’s perspective, insights, goals, and overall strategy
  • Study and understand the demographic data necessary to identify a client’s target audience, then calculate reach and frequency of each media vehicle
  • Confer with clients and account services to understand the media goals, establish objectives, and deploy strategies for advertising campaigns
  • Formulate recommendations for long and short-term strategies
  • Develop media plans across traditional and digital platforms and channels (TV, Digital, Radio, Print, Out of Home, and more)
  • Prepare and present your plan to the media supervisor, media director, account services and/or client approval, making changes as needed
  • Effectively communicate the details of approved media plans and specifications, and assist in meeting expectations
  • Manage day-to-day implementation, optimization, and performance of campaign activities including authorizations, budgets, and reconciliations
  • Oversee all buying activity for assigned accounts, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Keep current on media and consumer trends, perform competitive analysis and research
  • Seek consumer and media research data, translating it effectively into media recommendations
  • B.A. / B.S. degree
  • Proficient working knowledge of MediaOcean required
  • Minimum 3+ years of media planning experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task competing priorities and projects through time management and organization
  • Ability to work effectively cross functionally and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and other various outside vendors
  • Proficient working knowledge MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
  • Strong analytical skills

Media Buyer

An MPP Media Buyer’s main focus is negotiating and purchasing traditional and digital media spots on behalf of our clients, and ensuring a comprehensive and holistic approach to the entire campaign and delivering the best value for the client spend. Your days will be filled negotiating with media vendors, developing and implementing creative solutions to complex problems, managing costs, and serving as the main point of contact between the client and vendors. Work with other media buyers, media planners, the sales team, and our media directors in a collaborative team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently order schedules, receive avail requests, check contracts, accept appropriate make goods and handle any special information requests
  • Maintain lowest rate structure available for all clients and track this cost data to ensure an accurate cost guide
  • Work with Media Director to establish rate card in each individual market
  • Deliver the most efficient costs while estimating the anticipated target audience delivery accurately
  • Negotiate, adjust and monitor schedules to ensure delivery to client goals and estimates; meet budget requirements and GRP goals
  • Provide tracking reports and post-buy delivery analyses on quarterly and annual basis
  • Fulfill client requests, collect data and information regarding television ratings / programming and industry/ marketplace/ technology trends
  • Execute all buys within client media specifications by the assigned deadlines to ensure client air dates are met
  • Update all current, on-air schedules to ensure station delivery within negotiated agreement and/or to respond to any challenges or opportunities that may develop
  • Manage and monitor clearance of discrepancies and accounting functions for accounts and markets on a timely basis
  • Post-analyze every buy to original audience estimates and negotiate any additional under delivery weight necessary to achieve goals
  • Maintain accurate records of buys, budgets, revisions, credits, etc. Attend internal and external media presentations
  • Meet with sales representatives and vendors
  • Keep abreast of industry trends through trade press and current events
  • Master the latest computer software used for agency functions
  • Communicate pertinent market information to strategy and account teams as necessary
  • Effectively and proficiently use MediaOcean
  • Complete knowledge of programming, rates, and personnel in the market or markets assigned
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques and research
  • Knowledge of negotiating techniques
  • Analytical thinking, ability to follow through on tasks and be detail-oriented
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely and present orally in an articulate and confident manner
